Property Description

Beautifully presented throughout, 'Crooked Cottage' is a quintessentially English country cottage that has been meticulously maintained and improved over the years by its current owners. The charming, character packed interior is complemented by modern day refinements and stylish decoration to make this alluring cottage the perfect 'turn key' property, in a central village location within walking distance to all the village amenities.

To the front of the house there is a useful, pea gravelled, off street parking area where a covered porch leads you into and enchanting reception room which is currently being utilised as a snug/office. To the rear of the room a pair of bi-fold doors draw your eyes towards the pretty south facing garden, whilst within the room you get your first sense of the immense character that can be found throughout the property with its painted stone fireplace, oak hearth and cast iron wood burner, pine bookshelf, fitted desk and cupboards, and limestone floor. From the snug/office a door leads through to the main reception passing the staircase that rises to the first floor.  This beautiful dual aspect sitting room features another alluring fireplace which also has a cast iron wood-burner and a stunning Oak floor, there is a small understairs area with useful cupboards and fitted bookshelves.

Beyond the sitting room is the gorgeous kitchen/breakfast room, patio doors link to the garden to the rear of the room with a window and door to the side. The kitchen is fitted with a substantial range of traditional shaker style units, complemented by a solid wood countertop. The counter top is inset with a Belfast sink and there is provision for a gas cooker, wine fridge and washing machine. A matching central island unit provides space for informal dining and food preparation and there is room for a large dresser and an arm chair. The kitchen is finished with a striking oriental tiled floor, spotlights and is blessed with a lovely outlook over the garden.

Moving onto the first floor, you will find three double bedrooms and a stylish family bathroom, arranged off a an attractive 'L' shaped landing. The main bedroom features fitted wardrobes and a lovely dressing area, whilst the remaining two bedrooms are both good doubles with pleasant outlooks. Completing the internal accommodation is a luxurious family bathroom which has a traditional style white bathroom suite including a gorgeous clawfoot bath, fully tiled walk in shower with a rain fall shower head over and quality sanitaryware. There is smart wood panelling to the walls, a travertine tiled floor and a well positioned Velux windows that fills the room with natural light.

Outside, the garden is every bit as delightful as the house itself, and enjoys a surprisingly high degree of privacy. Enjoying a sunny south/westerly aspect there is a large area of level lawn, a discrete al-fresco terrace with a pergola over, perfect for an intimate supper party, an area of stone chipping, ornamental pond, garden shed and woodstore. The garden is interspersed by an effervescent border of pretty flowers, trees and small plants. There is also the added bonus of power to the garden shed, a hot & cold tap and outside lighting.

WE HAVE NOTICED. Crooked Cottage truly is an idyllic period home, packed with character it has a homely charm that can be difficult to find or replicate. The sunny rear garden is simply beautiful, and there is still plenty of potential to create more ground floor accommodation (perhaps a garden room) if desired.
